The Oct. 13 Monroe 10.5 mile race is now almost a “WUSS FRIENDLY” race. A new road bridge has been installed at the 7.1 mile mark of the 10.5 mile race and racers are no longer required to cross the stream at that point. And, at mile 9.5 (mile 3.5 for the new 4.5 mile race), a brand spanking new hi-tech footbridge has been installed. This replaces the washed away log structure from years back. Now all the WUSSES have to face are a few steep ups and downs and a small brook crossing which is, at the moment, only 2.0 inches deep!
Note to hardcore trail runners: Don't feel obligated to use the bridges. As in the past, you can always enjoy the thrill of running through the streams.
