Grand Tree Points Suggestion

Postby mkulacz » Fri Mar 28, 2008 4:46 pm

Idea for Grand Tree points:

There should be, for each Grand Tree'r, 1 opportunity to earn 50 points by volunteering to manage/operate a race. Naturally, the level of participation requires the runner to not be able to run that race. The point structure should be supportive of Grand Tree'rs helping run one of our ecclectic races, while not harming their chances at the Stonehead prize.

Perhaps a Grand Tree'r should need to run at least 5 races to be able to attain the "50 point race volunteer" bonus.

Lookin forward to seeing you guys.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. Anyone else have an opinion?

A variation on it would be for any race director who wants to, to submit the names of anyone who would have run but didn't in order to help out. In the Grand Tree standings, those people would get a neutral score (the average of their other races over the season), to adjust things whether they are going for Stonehead or Best of Six standings.

That sounds good!
We could also DEDUCT points for: getting lost for no good reason (-10 points), Bitching about the course (-20 points) or throwing GU wrappers on the trail (-50 points).
